Shone & Paolo | Edmonton Wedding Photographer

I was looking forward to Shone & Paolo's wedding since I photographed their engagement session last year, I knew it will be a fun wedding and I am definitely correct!

The day began with Shone and her bridesmaids getting ready. Rozy, one of the maid of honors is also a freelance makeup artist, kudos to her doing all the makeup for the ladies that morning while taking care of the maid of honors duty!

It rained all morning and was still raining by the time we left for the ceremony. The rainy sky didn't overshadow the happy occasion as friends and families joined together at the ceremony to celebrate.

As Paolo's family is from the Philippines, there are a few special ceremonies performed: the coin, veil and rope ceremony. The gift of coins by the groom to the bride and her acceptance symbolizes mutual obligations to care for the family and home. The veil is pinned to the couples' shoulder to symbolize the shelter they provide them. The Rope in the shape of a figure eight is a Mexican weddings custom and a large Rosary is used at Filipino weddings symbolizing the two becoming one.

After the church ceremony, we went to Shone's uncle house for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, Shone changed into a beautiful Thai dress at that time as well. I love seeing all the different cultures and traditions in one wedding!

By this time, the sun broke out and the sky was also cleared out! What a good timing for us to head off for formal photo session in the wild. Props to the whole bridal party for fighting their fear of bugs and enduring all the mosquitoes who just kept coming at us!

We ended with the evening reception at the Edmonton Petroleum Club, tons of fun, laughs and of course tears!

Shone and Paolo, you two lovebirds deserve each other, congratulation once again!! It was an honor to photograph your beautiful wedding day!

Wil,

Beautiful work. You have far exceeded our expectations. You are so easy to work with, listened to our requests and directed us to capture beautiful shots as evident here.

We look forward to working with you again.
